Zeznatic Beach

Playing at Travolta (NRG) was A REAL pleasure. I don't know if I can talk for the others as well, but as for me it was the first time I felt we were treated like real VIP! The (very hudge and cool) venue had nothing to do with the usual garages slash dark clubs slash small rooms where me myself as spectator too use to see my beloved indie artistist and bands, but it was like... being Bono playing at Zoo in Dublin 1993, I suppose. Or something like that. Great guys at the serivce, expensive tecs and equipements (also DJs did tested EACH of the eight amps coming down from the disco ceiling, clearing the sounds with a wash of white noise and testing their frequencies limits seeing at which point glasses could break), a reserved table with dozen of bottles of beer served by waiters with compliments by the landlord, people having to wait for us to begin OUTSIDE the venue with this kind of insane idea of having the audience to come in with us already playing (we opened with "Girls From Ronta", a shame for very brilliant versions of "The Smiths & The Cure" and "Do Mean It's A Mess" that didn't made it to the show). In a word: we were happy, and you could have seen it in the aftershow with Tinies and their closest girls and friends dancing like fools! The only regret not having had the time to check if my guitar was in tune (it was not). Big stuff, cool youngters, we were just fish in an aquarium, still closest fans hadn't too much difficulties to see we were the same indie jerks of always :)

Rock on Tinies!

ONE

First of all I wanna say "Hi!" to Anthony Rochester, that helped me discovering the power of the "Compressor" options on my music editor (Thank you Ant), and Filippo Franchini to having told me that the first mix of the version was better than the enanched one. We love you Frank!

Then. "ONE" is the last song for "TenneT", leavin me wondering if I should put deadlines to the other guys, or just carry on the proper recordings for "TenneT" beside "Febrero" (guess we'll have to talk about it). Anyway! This time i wanna be kinda misterious on the origin of that "one". Let's say that it's always very complicate to write a love song without feeling somehow idiot. But what can you say about love? That's it? There's nothing peculiar to say. You feel great and just like a shit at the same time, and everything's just been told before.

I asked Matt Williams (The Brigadier) a little help with the lyrics, and I changed some bits. The "Eelsian" part was originally talking by a devil cought by the police. Matt made me notice that it didn't make much sense, and I told him that it was a real dream I had. But then I tought about something more coherent (Matt suggested a Priest fighting the Devil)... and I went out with this thing about Bonnie Parker, from Bonnie & Clide. Guess what? Whit all those "Rocky Racoonian" sounds now it's my favorite part of the song. And I used to hate it!

Well then. Thanks to all this people, hope this song will bring you luck and here's demos and lyrics:

"Because you are the one
This answer my lover, is all that I'v got
Because you are the one
Who has stolen the other half of my heart

First time we met
Twas a surprise
I wasn't ready for your smile to arrive
I can suppose
You are a star
That's why my baby I'm leargning to fly

Because you are the one
The answer my lover - a sing in the sky
Because you are the one
Who has stolen the other side of my heart

The soul you warm, the body you dress
The air around, and even your scent
It's so divine, I must confess
Still I'm afraid
It could end in a mess

Because you are the one
I'm shaking all over
A quake in the night
Because you are the one
Who has stolen the other side of my heart

As you were brave like Bonnie Parker
It was a crime to run with you
They called the cops
And you got cuffed
But I opened up the door
Without you I was none

Because you are the one
The answer my love? - I look to the sky
Because you are the one
Who has stolen the other half of my heart"

BYE

After my bad attempt to do a Showgaze-Glam song on the FOG, half wat from David Bowie's "Future Legend/Diamond Dog", psy-folk, italo disco and the craziest Beck, I needed to go back to something quite and easy not to scare the listeners. That's how I came to resume another very old song I wrote when I was twentysomething basically correcting some bits on the first part, adding some lines in the second, and making a little bit masterblaster instead of obladibladà.

I came to Apples Quarters, but they were closed, so I had to steal every Beatles item in there an put it in the same song. Hope you don't mind! Lyrics are not so meaninful. They were written down just to fit some nice sounds with words. Here they are, anyway.

"These are the things that make you feel good
Thes are the songs that make you strong
This is the moment you were waiting
To forget anyhing gone wrong

Pick up the pictures from a dirt floor
Take all the flowers she has thrown
make'em all pieces and confetti
and forget anything gone wrong

'Cause now she's gone
and I'm allright
Now she's gone
And I feel fine
Whene the dawn
lights the line
you can sail
and say good ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-bye

See all these bands tha meant to save us
Are they all dying in and ou
Bring on some friends and all their records
and play the music all night long"
