Lover or Loser?

This song came to life with the only intent on forcing Fabio Benni from Le Man Avec Les Lunettes to starr in a duo having the two of us pretending to be Paul McCarteny and David Bowie in a song that never were. Just imagine the potential of such a unbelievable improbable combo, and the fun in writing and singing the song. I wrote and finished the song, Fabio didn't find the time to work on the song, and I found myself singin' the two parts.

"Road to Fairies" is such a great and loved song, but nothing really changed that much from the EP version and its sounds were a bit too distant from the indie-rock of the last works, so I decided that "Lover / Loser" would have repleaced it on the new album "Febrero".

When I started to write the song the tune was simply called "Abe", a tribute to Abraham Lincoln, born February the 2nd. Then things started to morph and the first draft became just a simple sketch before the main song, a sort of little feature indeed. An opening number in a very McCartian style.

This was the first version of the lyrics:

"Abe, be ace
you California Rambler
guess it's not to late
to hit L.A.
Dixieland
it's coming into fashion
on a street parade
across the States

Cross the greatest crisis
on your civil walk
to preserve our union
we divide'em all
Guessed we failed on loving
often absent friends
We were seeking power
to enlight our fate

'CAUSE THIS
ISN'T JUST LUXURY
GUESS WE'RE BOTH SMARTER THAN THAT

Oh my!
WE'RE MOVING UTTERLY
ON YOUNG AMERICAN TRACKS

'CAUSE THIS
ISN'T JUST THUGGERY
GUESS IT'S MORE CRUEL THAN THAT

We Crashed
cought in a robbery
Caught by a valuable friend

'CAUSE THIS
ISN'T JUST LUXURY....

it's your chance
my dear fellowmen
no goverment plan
will stop our defence

Live and learn
stand up like a man
we're gonna go far
to fullfill our race"

Then I was hit by the "Lover / Loser" stuff. Isn't it strange out a single letter can change the whole meaning of a word? I started to work on that new version that came to be the one you'll hear on Febrerto. Here's the lyrcs:

"Abe, be ace
you California Rambler
guess it's not to late,
to take your chance
and hit L.A.
Di-xieland
it's coming into fashion
on a street parade
dear fellowmen
we'll take the States

Lover
or loser
you got to decide
to take it
or leave her
apart from your life

hate her
or call her
should not be a crime
save her
or kill her
and hide for a while

sex-obsessed
do you feel forlorn
hustling on your friends
When you're showing such a mess

Are you tired of all those dead-ends
in the book of love
When things do starts in uppercase
it's so clear to understand

that Lover
or loser
it's you to decide
to love her
or leave her
apart from your heart

hate her
or call her
cannnot be a crime
save her
or kill her
and hide for a while

They'll come on strong and quickly starts to crawl...
I don't wanna know where were you not at all
THere's no control on flaws and jelous thoughts
It's equality whatever should go wrong

Troubles are a risky part of life
No one should give up without a try
Can't deny that something's going wrong
and the only way to win is to hold on
Please call"

Enjoy + Have a exciting new year :)

Scrambled Eggs 2.0

Since Andrè Brorsson from "Stars In Coma" is a saint, he agreed to collaborate on the mixing and editing of "Tiny Tide" first album. Since that album - called "Febrero", will also have some collaborations in it, we started from "Scrambled Eggs", to start to work together on a track. I was really amazed. E only needed the voice track and the drums of my old demo to build everything else starting from zero... in one hour and an half!! While he played keyboards, guitars and bass, on this demo we've got Porlock and Manuel on violin.

Why we decided to share with you that song? Quite simple! Andrè's computer... crashed! We have to start back to the start, and this mp3 is quite all we've left from those recordings. So take it away, it's....

Blame It On The Tiny Express

We're not late. We're doing things the right way!

First of all, I was so excited 'bout the new collaboration with [Mysterious Code Nickname] "Obscured by Clouds"[/Mysterious Code Nickname]. I mean. Writing a song in English, and hearing this marvellous version of "Valentine Disco Night" with his fabulous brit accent... it was priceless! I listened to "Clouds"version over and over again right before going out last Saturnday and I'm really impressed at each listening.

Today Dendrix [Quite Original Name] has come to record guitars for "The Smiths And The Cure". Better than I thought! We're going in the right direction. Stay in tune!

Not Always Where I Need to Be

Mic is a strange drummer. He's got a strange relationship with time. He never miss a beat while playing, but keeps on being late each time we've got to me somewhere.

Ray is the owner and sound technician of Tam Tam Studio. Not only. He's the only person I know that managed to have Mic in time at a established hour. Nevertheless I was punctual as always. But in the wrong place! It took 20 minutes like an idiot on the road since Mic realized that maybe it was time to look for my position and show me the way to the studio. HALLELUJA!

"Sentence! Sentence! Can you hear me? Sentence!"

That was Ray from the other side of the glass of one of the recording rooms.

"Sentence?". What kind of code was that? What was supposed to mean? Was it a strange tec-word related to music field I didn't know?

"Ray? What's sentence?"
"Ah. Nothing. I use to call Mic Sentence because of his habit to criticize everything..."

I planned to recod all the drums for the 8 songs I needed in 2 nights. Mic was more optimistic than I was. He had to insist but... he was right! 7 out of 8! Now we lack only "Beachvolley Fields Forever" and as for the drums we're done!

Rehearsing hard showed its results, except for me while barking the WORST performance of ever (I am quite ill right now) of "Ginger Genie" (I hadn't done my homeworks!).

Well. Time for the others to pull on the socks and work it on.

The Kitty Is Back

Today I had to record pianos for "Scrambled Eggs" with Porlock. Or maybe carry on "Total Groupie" with the "Ummagumma" (given mysterious guest nickname).

Neither the options came to happen, so I brought on the recodings for the new "Kitty Jesus". It's magic, in my opinion. The song started like some bed-in hippies practicing "Give Peace A Chance", but it ended to be a great drunk sailors choir getting along through a "Yellow Submarine" kinda anthem.

Drums ok I suppose, since "The Piper" (given mysterious guest nickname) asked me how many panoramic microphones we used to record them! Guess I'll have to thanks Imogen Heap for that :)

24-25 Tiny are on the studio to record drums for "The Smiths And The Cure", "Tiny Trains", "February" and "The Psychopath At The Club". But I guess we'll have time for a little chat before then. Ta Ta.

John Blues

Just got back from "Ummagumma" (that's a code name, as usual) studio. We tried to approach to the re-building of "Total Groupie". John took Clint (my acoustig guitar) and recorded a MARVELLOUS part. What surprised me the most he then had a fantastic drum session too, and the new "Total Groupie" still have a very radiophonic and modern brand new soul too! "Febrero" recordings just started and this is yet the second time that this miracle happens (and I can feel when it's happening one, I can recognise the sings). Positive vibes from "Ummagumma" studios. Thank you for the beer John!

Clear Signal From Cesena

Today Manuel went down to Studio Sonda. We recorded (actually... HE recorded) bass and violin for "The Smiths and the Cure", "Road to Fairies" and "Scrambled Eggs".

Bass was a hard one to fit, but violins matched perfectly to "Road to Fairies" leaving me completely shocked! The recording was allright from the first take, and it suited perfectly to the Wildheart orchestration part too! Bravo Manuel!

Another one hard to believe was how sweet violin sounded on the new version of "Scrambled Eggs". It seemed a radio hit since the first notes! It was a good session indeed. Thank you Manuel.
